Due to changes in Federal Regulations in the telecommunications industry, you may now see charges on your phone bill for calls made from your landline phone to wireless phone numbers outside your local calling area.
The local calling area is the zone in which customers can make phone calls without receiving additional charges. EATEL’s local prefixes are: 622, 621, 644, 647, 743, 673, 677, 744, 675, 695, and 698. Most wireless phones do not utilize these local prefixes.
These changes are a result of many wireless companies choosing to no longer absorb customers’ landline to wireless fees.
A list of commonly asked questions and answers about these charges are provided below:

A: It is possible some customers may see charges starting on their December 2003 bill, if they have placed calls to wireless numbers outside their local calling area (from a landline phone). Some wireless carriers will absorb these costs while others will not.
A: LOS customers who usually meet their monthly cap will probably not see an increase. LOS customers who typically do not reach their cap may notice an increase in their monthly telephone bill.
A: Non-LOS customers who call wireless phone numbers (or other numbers outside of their calling area) will see an increase in their monthly long distance charges. LOS may be a cost-saving option for you. Contact an EATEL customer service representative for more information on this plan.
