Federal law protects your privacy rights as a customer of East Ascension Telephone Co., Inc.,
TLX Communications, Inc. and Advanced Tel, Inc. (the “Company”). These rights are in addition to
the existing safeguards that the Company already has in place to ensure your privacy rights. The
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires the Company to notify all subscribers of their
additional rights to restrict the use of their Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI).
What Is
CPNI is simply defined as a customer’s personal information that relates to the quantity,
technical configuration, type, destination and amount of use of your telecommunications services,
including the information contained in your bill. CPNI does not include your published directory
information or any information that is in the public domain, such as your name, address or telephone
number.
Examples of CPNI include information about the services to which you subscribe, the amount
of your long distance bill or a list of phone numbers you have called. These are examples of the kind
of information that the Company possesses because we require that information to serve you.
Under federal law, the Company has a duty to protect the confidentiality of your CPNI. We
will be happy to provide you with the complete FCC rules upon request.
CPNI can be used for certain purposes without your permission. CPNI may be used to offer you new
or enhanced services, such as speed dialing, call forwarding or caller ID, that are related to the
services to which you currently subscribe or to respond to your inquiry regarding services to which
you currently use. CPNI may also be used for company functions related to billing and collection,
repair and maintenance, installation of inside wiring, to protect the property of the company and to
prevent fraud. Information that comes from the sale of customer premise equipment or information
services is NOT considered CPNI and, as such, the information may be used to market any service the
Company offers. Random marketing activity, that is, marketing services without using customer
profiles gathered from CPNI, is also permitted.
Under federal law, your CPNI can be used to market certain services unless you elect to opt out or
prevent us from using your information. Use of such CPNI may enhance our ability to offer
products and services to meet our customer’s needs.
You may opt out simply by calling 1-800-621-4211 or by filling out the CPNI Opt-Out Form and mailing such form to:
EATEL
Attn. Residential Reps
913 S. Burnside Ave.
Gonzales, LA 70737
Or faxing the form to: (225) 644-5800
You have the right to disapprove of the use of and to deny or withdraw access to CPNI at any
time. You may do this in writing, orally or by electronic means. Your approval or denial of approval
will remain in effect until you revoke it. A denial of your approval or a restriction on the use of your
CPNI will not affect the provision of any services to which you subscribe now or in the future. You
may give the Company instructions to disclose CPNI to unaffiliated third parties upon submission of
a written, oral or electronic request. While this new regulation requires the Company to send this
information, it is important that you understand the Company has never provided this type of
information to anyone other than you, the Customer.
Unless you specifically opt out or choose to not allow us to use your CPNI to market services
related to those to which you presently subscribe, we may use information to market additional
services to you.
